I have to be completely honest to anyone suffering abuse. If it still goes on, tell, and get help, no ifs or buts. But if it's been years, or your safe now... think first. I went through years of hardships, guilt, pain because of my uncle. When I finally worked up the courage and told. Nothing could've prepared me for when people didn't believe me. For people going, "let's not talk about it", or "it's in the past" or the fake ignorant smiles. If I could go back I would've never told =(
